How To Make French Bread Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of French bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Place the cubed French bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. Add the toasted French bread, dried thyme, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg to the saucepan. Stir to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  5. Gradually pour in the whole milk while stirring constantly. Continue to cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

  6. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.

  7. Serve the French bread sauce warm as a dipping sauce or drizzle it over roasted meats, vegetables, or pasta.
