How To Make Halloween Biscuits
Spooky and delicious biscuits perfect for Halloween festivities.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Orange and black food coloring
- Halloween-themed sprinkles
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add cold butter to the flour mixture and cut it in using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and vanilla extract. Gradually add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until just combined.
-
Divide the dough into two equal parts. Add orange food coloring to one part and black food coloring to the other part, kneading until the color is evenly distributed.
-
Roll out the orange dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Roll out the black dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use smaller Halloween-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on top of the orange shapes on the baking sheet.
-
Sprinkle the biscuits with Halloween-themed sprinkles.
-
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
-
Allow the biscuits to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
