Photos of Sonic Ocean Water Recipe
This copycat recipe for the famous Sonic ocean water will definitely quench your thirst on hot summer days. Sonic offers a variety of drinks like milkshakes, slushies, and their equally famous cherry limeade, but I always go back to their original Sonic ocean water. Everything about this blue drink is perfect. It’s sweet, refreshing, and non alcoholic so it’s kid friendly! Everyone can enjoy it any time, anywhere.
It’s rare to find Sonic drive-in branches near my area so it gets frustrating whenever I crave for it. It’s the same thing as how other people would go through long queues just to buy coffee. Whenever I feel the heat from a very humid day, all I want is to sip on this ocean water drink so I tried looking up how to make it.
Just like you, I also wondered “What is Sonic ocean water and why is it called that way?” This drink has blue food coloring to bring out the iconic bright azure hue that resembles that of the sea. For me, its pretty bright blue color contributes to the relaxing feeling that I get from a long and satisfying sip of this beverage.
This summer drink is made sweet and refreshing with sugar and their special ingredient: coconut extract. Coconut extract also has a very strong and concentrated tropical taste which smells so good! For me, it tastes like sweetened fresh coconut which is why I only use a tablespoon of it so it wouldn’t be too overpowering. But if you love the taste of coconut, then you can add more. You can also use pineapple extract in place of coconut extract if you prefer.
The tropical sweet taste of this mix combined with the crisp flavor of Sprite (my favorite lemon lime soda) make up a thirst-quenching bubbly beverage perfect for a day at the beach, pool party, or even a simple picnic.
