Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon angostura bitters

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Add the orange zest, lemon zest, and angostura bitters to the saucepan. Stir until well combined.

  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.

  4. Once cooled, strain the mixture into a bottle or jar and store in the refrigerator.

  5. To make an old fashioned cocktail, combine 2 ounces of the homemade mix with 2 ounces of whiskey or bourbon in a glass with ice. Stir well and garnish with a cherry or orange peel.
