Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 40 minutes
Total: 1 hour

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream and chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a food processor, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Add the cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch tart pan, making sure it is evenly distributed. Place the tart pan in the refrigerator to chill for 15 minutes.

  4. Bake the tart shell for 12-15 minutes, or until set. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.

  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Slowly pour in the melted chocolate mixture, whisking continuously until well combined.

  7. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled tart shell and spread it evenly.

  8. Bake the tart for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly puffed. Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour.

  9. Once cooled, refrigerate the tart for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow it to set completely.

  10. Serve slices of the Millionaire’s Chocolate Tart with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shavings, if desired.
