- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Instructions
-
In a medium saucepan, heat the Guinness, treacle, and butter over medium heat until the butter has melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, flour, and ground ginger. In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, milk, and egg. Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, whisking until well combined.
-
Slowly pour the Guinness mixture into the batter, whisking constantly until smooth.
-
Grease a 9-inch round baking dish and pour in the batter. Place the dish on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour and 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Allow the pudding to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
