How To Make Mini Chilli Beef Pies

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, diced red bell pepper, and chopped jalapeno pepper to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.

  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, until the flavors are well combined and the mixture has thickened.

  5. Roll out the pie crusts onto a floured surface. Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out circles from the pie crusts.

  6. Spoon a spoonful of the beef filling onto one half of each pie crust circle. Fold the other half of the circle over the filling and press the edges together to seal. Repeat with the remaining pie crusts and filling.

  7. Place the mini pies onto a baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg to create a golden crust.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the pies are golden brown and the filling is hot.

  9. Serve the mini chilli beef pies hot and enjoy!
