Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.

  2. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the olive oil and warm water.

  3. Mix the ingredients together until a soft dough forms.

  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and cover them with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.

  6. Take one portion of dough and roll it out as thin as possible, almost transparent.

  7. Brush the rolled dough with olive oil and fold it into thirds, like a letter.

  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 with the remaining dough portions.

  9. Use a sharp knife to cut the folded dough into desired shapes, such as squares or triangles.

  10. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the phyllo dough for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

  11. Transfer the cooked phyllo dough to a wire rack to cool completely before using.
