How To Make Zeljanica (Cheese & Spinach Pie)

Ingredients
- 2 cups of spinach, chopped
- 1 cup of feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup of cottage cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 8 sheets of phyllo dough
- Olive oil, for brushing
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a bowl, combine the spinach, feta cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, milk, melted butter, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.

Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the bottom of the baking dish and brush it with olive oil. Repeat this process with 3 more sheets, brushing each one with olive oil.

Spread half of the spinach and cheese mixture evenly over the phyllo dough.

Cover the mixture with 4 more sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each one with olive oil.

Spread the remaining spinach and cheese mixture over the second layer of phyllo dough.

Top the pie with the remaining 4 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each one with olive oil.

Brush the top of the pie with olive oil and cut shallow diagonal lines on the surface.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Allow the zeljanica to cool for a few minutes before serving.
