Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 9-inch pie crust, store-bought or homemade
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
-
Add the diced onion, minced garlic, carrot, and celery to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
-
Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
-
Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
-
Pour in the beef broth and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.
-
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
-
Roll out the pie crust and line a 9-inch pie dish with it.
-
Pour the meat mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.
-
Cover the pie with another layer of pie crust, sealing the edges.
-
Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
-
Place the pie dish on a baking sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
