Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 1 hour
Total: 1 hour 20 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 9-inch pie crust, store-bought or homemade

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

  3. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, carrot, and celery to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  4. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.

  5. Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  6. Pour in the beef broth and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.

  7. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

  8. Roll out the pie crust and line a 9-inch pie dish with it.

  9. Pour the meat mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.

  10. Cover the pie with another layer of pie crust, sealing the edges.

  11. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.

  12. Place the pie dish on a baking sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

  13. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
