How To Make Concord Grape Jelly Recipe
Jelly desserts don’t always have to mean ordinary gelatin dishes in cups. With our tasty jelly recipes, a jelly dessert will make you become the talk of the town before you know it.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of Concord grapes
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 package of powdered pectin
Instructions
-
Wash the grapes and remove the stems. Place them in a large pot and crush them using a potato masher.
-
Cook the grapes over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour the grape mixture into it. Use the back of a spoon to press the grapes and extract the juice. Discard the pulp and seeds.
-
Measure the amount of grape juice and return it to the pot. For every 4 cups of juice, add 4 cups of sugar and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
-
In a separate bowl, mix the pectin with a small amount of sugar. Stir it into the grape juice mixture.
-
Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
-
Pour the hot jelly into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe the rims clean and cover with sterilized lids.
-
Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes to seal them properly. Remove from the water bath and let cool completely.
-
Store in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
