  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.

  7. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.

  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Serve and enjoy!
