How To Make Cheese Wheatmeal Biscuits

  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ cup cold unsalted butter, diced
  • 1/3 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, shredded cheddar cheese, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. Add the cold diced butter to the bowl and mix with your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Gradually add the milk to the mixture and continue to mix until a dough forms.

  5. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times.

  6. Roll out the dough to a ½ inch (1.25 cm) thickness and use a round biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.

  7. Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. Remove from the oven and allow the biscuits to cool slightly before serving.
