  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Assorted sprinkles or edible decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on high speed until foamy.

  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.

  4. Gradually add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

  5. Beat in the vanilla extract and food coloring (if desired).

  6. Transfer the meringue mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip.

  7. Pipe small wreath shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.

  8. Decorate the wreaths with sprinkles or edible decorations.

  9. Bake for 2 hours or until the meringue wreaths are dry and crisp.

  10. Turn off the oven and leave the wreaths to cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly ajar.

  11. Once cooled, carefully remove the meringue wreaths from the parchment paper.

  12. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
