Total: 55 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Easter-themed decorations, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. While the cake is cooling, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Let it sit for a minute, then whisk until smooth and shiny.

  8. Once the cake is completely cooled, evenly spread the chocolate truffle mixture on top.

  9. Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set the truffle layer.

  10. Remove the cake from the refrigerator and dust with powdered sugar. Add Easter-themed decorations for an extra festive touch.

  11. Slice and serve this delectable Easter chocolate truffle cake to enjoy!
