Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together in the microwave or over a double boiler. Stir until smooth.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, flour, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly until fully incorporated.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  6. Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  7. Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Serve slices of the chocolate torte with a dollop of whipped cream.
