How To Make Chocolate & Ginger Torte
Serves:
Ingredients
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 150g unsalted butter
- 150g granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 100g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake tin.
-
In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate and butter together in the microwave or over a pan of simmering water. Stir until smooth.
-
Whisk the eggs and sugar together in a separate bowl until light and fluffy. Gradually pour in the melted chocolate mixture while whisking continuously.
-
Sift in the flour, ground ginger, baking powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared tin and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
-
Allow the torte to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Serve slices of the torte with a dusting of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
