How To Make Beef Brisket Recipe for Rosh Hashanah

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef brisket
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

  2. In a large dutch oven or oven-safe pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

  3. Season beef brisket with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.

  4. Sear brisket on both sides until browned, about 5 minutes per side.

  5. Remove brisket from pot and set aside.

  6. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.

  7. Stir in beef broth, apple cider vinegar, honey, and tomato paste.

  8. Return brisket to the pot and cover with the sauce.

  9. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and bake in the preheated oven for 3.5-4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.

  10. Slice brisket and serve with the sauce.
