Ingredients

  • 5 cups sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, diced
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Peel and slice the apples, then mix them with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flour.

  3. Pour apple mixture into the unbaked pie crust, then dot with the diced unsalted butter.

  4. Cover the crust with aluminum foil, and bake the pie for 30 minutes.

  5. Remove the aluminum foil, brush egg wash on the crust, and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

  6. Cool the pie for at least 30 minutes before serving.
