How To Make Israeli Bagel Recipe

A chewy, dense, and slightly sweet bagel recipe that is perfect for any meal of the day.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbsp of dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tbsp of oil
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp of sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and dry yeast.

  2. Add egg, warm water, honey, and oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until well incorporated.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.

  4. Cut the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll them into balls.

  5. Make a hole in the center of each ball and shape them into bagels.

  6. Let the bagels rest for 10 minutes.

  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  8. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the bagels, one or two at a time. Boil for 30 seconds on each side.

  9. Place the boiled bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  10. Brush the tops of the bagels with egg white and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  12. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
