How To Make Filipino Beef Steak

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 40 minutes
Total: 60 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup calamansi juice (or lemon juice)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium-sized onion, sliced into rings
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, calamansi juice, minced garlic, and ground black pepper.

  2. Add the beef slices to the marinade, making sure they are well-coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion rings until translucent.

  4. Remove the onion rings from the skillet and set aside.

  5. In the same skillet, fry the marinated beef slices until brown on both sides. Do this in batches if needed.

  6. Pour the leftover marinade into the skillet and let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly reduced.

  7. Return the onion rings to the skillet and mix well with the beef.

  8. Cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.

  9. Serve hot with steamed rice.
