Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add cold cubed butter to the bowl and use a pastry cutter or your hands to combine with the flour mixture until it looks like coarse crumbs.

  4. Mix in dried cranberries and orange zest.

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream and egg.

  6. Add the cream-egg mixture to the large mixing bowl and use a fork or hands to bring the dough together. Make sure it’s not overworked.

  7. Transfer dough on a lightly floured surface and shape into a circle. Cut into four equal wedges.

  8. Place scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.

  9. Let it cool before serving.
