How To Make Cranberry-Orange Scones
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup of dried cranberries
- zest of 1 orange
- 3/4 cup of buttermilk
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the dried cranberries and orange zest.
-
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle.
-
Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 8 equal wedges. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown on top.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
