Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, black pepper, and salt. Gradually whisk in the milk and eggs until well combined.

  3. Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a muffin tin or Yorkshire pudding tin in the oven for 5 minutes.

  4. Remove the hot tin from the oven and quickly pour the batter into the individual molds, filling each about halfway.

  5. Place the tin back in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the puddings rise and turn golden brown.

  6. Meanwhile, heat the remaining vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is softened.

  7. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, until the flavors meld together.

  8. Remove the puddings from the tin and serve with the beef and onion mixture poured over the top.
