Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • coarse salt
  • melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape into a pretzel.

  3. In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Drop each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove using a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.

  4. Brush each pretzel with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.

  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter. Serve warm.
