Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Coarse salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add in the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough back into the bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a long rope. Shape the rope into a snowflake by making a large loop with two small loops on either side.
-
In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add in the baking soda. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then remove and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse salt and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
Allow the pretzels to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
