Ingredients

  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.

  2. Stir in the brown sugar and cook for an additional 2 minutes until the sugar has dissolved.

  3. Add the apple cider and Dijon mustard to the skillet and simmer for 15 minutes, until the liquid has reduced and thickened slightly.

  4. Meanwhile, grill or heat the hot dogs according to the package instructions.

  5. Toast the hot dog buns until golden brown.

  6. Place a hot dog in each bun and top with a generous amount of the cider-infused onions.

  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
