- 4 large potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large bowl, mix together the grated potatoes, chopped onion, melted butter, salt, and black pepper.

Press the mixture into a greased 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan, making sure to press it down firmly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until the rösti cake is golden brown and crispy.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into wedges.
