How To Make The Ritz-Carlton’s Baked Alaska Recipe

A classic dessert made with sponge cake, ice cream, and meringue, baked until golden brown.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of sponge cake
  • 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.

  2. Place the sponge cake slices on a baking sheet.

  3. Place 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of each slice.

  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.

  5. Slowly add in the sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form.

  6. Cover the ice cream and sponge cake completely with the meringue mixture.

  7. Bake the Baked Alaska in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!
