Ingredients

  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the shallot and garlic, sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.

  3. Pour in the red wine and bring to a boil. Let it simmer for 10 minutes until the wine has reduced by half.

  4. Add the broth, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.

  5. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for another 15 minutes until it thickens.

  6. Remove from heat and strain the sauce to remove any solids.

  7. Serve the red wine reduction sauce drizzled over your favorite meat or roast.
