Ingredients

  • 4 cups chicken or turkey broth
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 2 minutes until a paste forms.

  3. Slowly pour in the broth, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.

  4. Add the dried thyme and sage, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

  6. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

  7. Once cooled, transfer the gravy to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

  8. When ready to serve, reheat the gravy in a saucepan over low heat until heated through, stirring occasionally.

  9. Adjust the seasoning if needed.

  10. Serve the make-ahead gravy with your favorite roasted meats and enjoy!
