Ingredients

  • 2 cups of canned chickpeas, drained
  • 1/4 cup of tahini
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon of paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 whole wheat tortillas
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon of paprika

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, and paprika. Brush this mixture onto both sides of the tortillas.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the tortillas into triangles and arrange them on a baking sheet.

  4. Bake the tortilla chips for 10-12 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden brown.

  5. To assemble the layered hummus, spoon a layer of the creamy hummus into individual serving dishes. Top with a layer of the spiced tortilla chips. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.

  6. Garnish with additional paprika and a drizzle of olive oil, if desired.

  7. Serve the layered hummus with the spiced tortilla chips for dipping.
