Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1 bag tortilla chips
  • Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, sliced jalapenos, sour cream, guacamole

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. Stir in taco seasoning and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. Spread refried beans evenly on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  5. Layer half of the tortilla chips on top of the beans.

  6. Spread half of the meat mixture over the chips.

  7. Pour half of the salsa over the meat layer.

  8. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.

  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients: tortilla chips, meat, salsa, and cheese.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  11. Remove from oven and serve hot with your favorite optional toppings.
