How To Make King Cake Recipe

A sweet, ring-shaped cake with colorful icing and a surprise filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Food coloring (green, purple, and yellow)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Unroll crescent rolls and lay on a baking sheet to form a ring.

  3. Combine sugar, pecans, and cinnamon in a bowl. Sprinkle mixture over crescent rolls.

  4. Drop teaspoonfuls of cream cheese on top of the sugar mixture.

  5. Roll up each crescent roll and pinch edges together to seal. Form into a ring.

  6. Bake for 30 minutes.

  7. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the icing.

  8. Divide icing into three bowls and color each bowl with food coloring to make green, purple, and yellow icing.

  9. Once the cake has cooled, drizzle icing on top of the cake in alternating colors.

  10. Serve and enjoy!
