How To Make Smoked Sausage Jambalaya Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

  2. Add smoked sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add onion, red bell pepper, celery, garlic, paprika, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, and bay leaf. Cook until the veggies are tender, about 7 minutes.

  4. Add rice and chicken broth. Stir to combine.

  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.

  6. Simmer until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed, about 25-30 minutes.

  7. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.

  8. Fluff with a fork and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  9. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
