Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
-
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
-
Add the sweet potatoes, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the skillet. Stir to coat the sweet potatoes.
-
Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the brown sugar has melted and coats the sweet potatoes.
-
Add the water to the skillet and stir to combine.
-
Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let simmer for about 15 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
-
Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the liquid to evaporate and the sweet potatoes to caramelize.
-
Once the sweet potatoes are caramelized and tender, remove from heat and serve immediately.
