  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp black bean sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 4 heads bok choi, trimmed and halved
  • Steamed rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the beef slices, five-spice powder, and salt. Mix well and let marinate for 10 minutes.

  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.

  3. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until browned and cooked through.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the black bean sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer.

  5. Add the bok choi to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until wilted but still crisp.

  6. Serve the Five-Spice Beef with Black Bean Sauce & Bok Choi over steamed rice.
