Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken or seafood broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons creole seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken or seafood broth, Worcestershire sauce, creole seasoning, dried thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are pink and cooked through.

  5. Remove the bay leaf and discard.

  6. Serve the shrimp creole over cooked rice and garnish with chopped green onions.
