Ingredients

  • 1 pound of prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 Thai red chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Dredge prawns in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

  3. Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Fry the prawns in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  5. Remove prawns from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  6. In a separate pan, heat 1 tbsp of oil over medium heat.

  7. Add minced garlic and chopped Thai red chilies, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

  8. Add soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to the pan.

  9. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  10. Remove from heat and toss the fried prawns in the garlicky hot pepper sauce.

  11. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.
