How To Make Easy Fish Pie

Ingredients

  • 500g white fish fillets, such as cod or haddock
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 200ml fish stock
  • 200ml milk
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500g potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 50g butter
  • 50ml milk
  • 50g grated cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, and garlic, and cook until softened.

  3. Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir well. Gradually add the fish stock and milk, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.

  4. Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and add them to the sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.

  5. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in a separate pot of salted boiling water until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth.

  7. Pour the fish and sauce mixture into a baking dish. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top and spread evenly.

  8. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the pie is golden and bubbling.

  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
