  • 2 cups of long-grain rice
  • 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 4 cups of chicken or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

  2. Add the rice to the saucepan and cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.

  3. Stir in the turmeric powder, cumin powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until the rice is evenly coated with the spices.

  4. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a boil.

  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes.

  7. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
