Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in a large pot until they are tender. Drain and let cool slightly.

  2. Peel the potatoes and pass them through a potato ricer or mash them until smooth.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, salt, and egg. Mix until well combined.

  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  5. Divide the dough into small portions and roll each into a rope about 1 inch thick.

  6. Cut each rope into small pieces, about 1 inch long.

  7. Use a fork to create ridges on each piece of gnocchi.

  8. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes.

  9. Remove the gnocchi from the water using a slotted spoon and transfer to a serving dish.

  10. Serve hot with your favorite sauce or topping.
