Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 25 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pineapple
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, bell pepper, pineapple, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, ginger powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter.

  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

  5. Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.

  6. In the meantime, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, and ginger powder. Cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes.

  7. Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and pour the sweet and sour sauce over them. Toss to coat the meatballs evenly.

  8. Serve the sweet and sour meatballs over steamed rice or as an appetizer. Enjoy!
