Ingredients

  • 4 sausages (such as bratwurst or kielbasa)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the sausages over medium heat until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.

  3. Add the sauerkraut, caraway seeds, and chicken broth to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

  4. Return the sausages to the skillet, nestling them into the sauerkraut mixture.

  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Serve hot with crusty bread or mashed potatoes.
