How To Make Kalbi (Korean BBQ Short Ribs)

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of beef short ribs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, sesame seeds, black pepper, and water to make the marinade.

  2. Place the short ribs in a large ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the meat.

  3. Marinate the short ribs for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  5. Remove the short ribs from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off.

  6. Grill the short ribs for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.

  7. Serve the Kalbi hot off the grill with steamed rice and kimchi.
