Ingredients

  • 4 dried chili peppers
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Remove stems and seeds from the dried chili peppers.

  2. In a dry skillet, toast the chili peppers, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and caraway seeds over medium heat until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. Transfer the toasted spices to a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.

  4. Add the garlic, smoked paprika, and salt to the grinder or mortar and pestle and grind until a fine powder forms.

  5. Store the Harissa Powder in an airtight container.
