Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  2. Add chopped red onion and pulse a few times to incorporate, leaving some texture.

  3. Drizzle in olive oil while the food processor is running, until desired consistency is reached.

  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika, a drizzle of olive oil, and some chopped red onion.

  6. Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers.
