How To Make Healthy Baked Beans

Ingredients
- 2 cans of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp of tomato paste
- 1 tbsp of maple syrup
- 1 tbsp of dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp of smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until translucent.

Add the tomato paste, maple syrup, dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if desired). Stir well to combine.

Add the drained and rinsed kidney beans to the skillet. Stir until the beans are coated with the sauce.

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the beans are thick and bubbly.

Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
