How To Make Easy Pilau Rice
A flavorful and aromatic rice dish with a touch of spice.

Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cardamom pods
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups water
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Set aside.

Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and bay leaf. Cook until the onion is golden brown and fragrant.

Add the turmeric powder and salt to the pot, stirring well to combine.

Add the rice to the pot and stir to coat it with the spices.

Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the rice simmer for 15 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is cooked.

Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and bay leaf.

Serve the pilau rice garnished with fresh cilantro.
