Ingredients

  • 1 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1/2 cup dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup jaggery (palm sugar)
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a pan, combine tamarind pulp, dates, jaggery, cumin powder, red chili powder, salt, and water.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat.

  3. Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dates are soft and the chutney has thickened.

  4. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  5. Once cooled, blend the chutney until smooth.

  6. Serve with your favorite appetizers or use as a dip for snacks.
